MR.CEO- The Bidding..

Chapter -6

                It's Saturday, and the office isn’t working. I decided to go but thought of going later. I called Venkat to pick me up by 10:30 AM he did as told. I am in the office by 11:15AM. I see only a few were working. Of course, it’s Saturday - the weekend, and most of them want to take rest, some give time to family, and some on their own pursuit, I am different. I spend my weekends in a very unusual way unless I have a job to complete.  Today is a working day for me, as I have a mission ahead. Entering my floor I felt some strange feeling that someone is in there. I ignored the feeling and focused on the proposal and projection work, it was 1:30 PM. I am trying hard to take out some printouts, as the printing machine jammed and couldn`t take any more prints. 1:45 PM, My stomach is craving food. I tried all the possible ways to set it right but couldn’t, I wanted to try it one last time, so I grounded myself to check and fix it. Within two minutes, I saw well-polished expensive brown leather shoes, which must be Dolce & Gabbana, walking near me. I startled and stood to say ‘OH GOD!’ In fear ‘It`s him’.

“Aravindh! You Scared me.” I yell.

“What`s wrong? Why are you yelling?” He asked.

“I didn’t expect you here? I told.

“Neither I,” He said.

“Yeah of course!  Monday is the bidding day, I need to finish the final calculations, but what are you doing here?” I asked.

What an immature question after-all this is his office and he is not accountable to anyone, indeed. But he answered so humbly.

“Even my work is left unfinished, so here I am.” He said. 

“What`s wrong with the machine?” He asked.

I turned and walk beside and said, “I need some prints but this is out of work, so trying to fix this in twenty minutes.”

“OH! Let me see.” He said.

He checked the printer and found it was overloaded and he grounded himself and pushed and pulled some plugs he found a button and pressed it, at once it automatically adjusted and started printing all the print queue files and the floor is flooded with printed papers.

Its clutter!

He gave me an eerie look!!  Can’t help, but slowly I reached all the papers and picked them one by one. He is watching me with half-folded hands and covering his right pointer finger on his lips. It’s embarrassing but I survived the moment somehow. He is so bossy.

I settled back, all the papers in order. It took me another fifteen minutes, but he is still in there, I wanted him to leave, so I can have something I bought in the name of lunch, a sandwich. I am starving.

He walked towards me and asked, “Are you hungry? Shall we go to lunch?”

My mouth drop opened! I started stammering; "Actually, I have a lot of work to complete, so some other time,” I said.

He said, “Fine.” and walked out of the office.

 I sat and opened my toddler lunch box and swallowed the sandwich that I brought.

4:00 PM I finished the work in a damn perfect way. I called Venkat to pick me; I reached my flat by 5:15 PM.

9:10 AM. I am in my office, and by 9:30 am office is filled with the rest of them, it’s my first Monday after joining, and also the first deal, a special day, and there is no going back now.

“Madam, at what time are we bidding?” Preethi Asked.

“All files are ready to upload, so we will bid by 4:30 PM. And tender closes by 6:00 PM. That is the plan Preethi please check and confirm all the standard documents were in place as per the annexure mentioned.”I added.

“Sure madam.” She Said.

4:00 PM MY first official Call to Mr.CEO via intercom.

Buzz…

“Hello…”

“Hello, Mr.CEO. It’s time to bid, shall we?”  I asked.

“Please come with all the files you are welcome to bid from my laptop.” He said.

Within ten minutes I reached him, he wore a blue checks shirt and black trousers with a red necktie, he is brilliant, and we sat facing each other. I took the initiative of asking them to borrow his laptop.

“Aravindh, may I use your laptop?”I asked.

After a moment, He said, “All yours.”

He pushed the laptop towards me, I tried to access it, but couldn`t it is asking for a password.

“Aravindh, can I have your Password please,” I asked?

“You know the password.” He said.

“I beg your pardon,” I Asked.

He said, “You heard it right, you very well know the Password, Lekha.”

 I started typing 12516, it opened, and I have access to his computer. I am amazed! Still, he is using the same old password. I knew he isn’t changed I thought. I updated all the requirements and asked him to do the payment part, he did as asked. By 4:40 PM we finished bidding the tender.

I told him, “By next week we can hear some news.”

He said, “Good Job.”

He asked me to mail the same to the rest of the team members. And I returned to my chair. Preethi is curious to know how it happened. I explained is gone smoothly and asked her to mail the same to the rest of the team. Finally, I thanked her for their support given by her. I see she is on cloud nine.

She asked, “What next?”

“Just waiting,” I replied.

 The third week of my office, I am on time, I had a mail, I took a look at it, it was from the CEO.

E-mail: 6:05AM.

Sub:  Short Listed.

Dear Ms. Lekha

Congratulations!  Please follow the below mail received last evening.

In brief, we are on the contractor’s short List as L1.

Precisely, we have to be ready for the presentation visits.

Please go through the rest of the proceedings, as per the annexure given. 

Please share the information with the rest of the team before we officially meet, let you know the meeting details ASAP.
